Penton Media Names David Blanchard IndustryWeek Magazine
Editor-in-Chief
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 30, 2006
CLEVELAND, OH – June
30, 2006 - Penton Media, Inc. (OTCBB: PTON)
announces the appointment of David Blanchard to
the position of IndustryWeek
editor-in-chief effective June 30, 2006.
Blanchard brings
a wealth of knowledge
in the supply-chain-enterprise-software and
logistics industries and over 20 years of
trade publishing experience to his new role.
Most recently, Blanchard held the position of
editor-in-chief of Logistics Today.
Previously in his seven-year Penton career,
Blanchard led the editorial team of Supply
Chain Technology News, which later merged with
Transportation & Distribution to become
Logistics Today.
In addition,
Blanchard has launched numerous print and online
newsletters, is a frequent speaker at industry
events, and has written several books, including
the forthcoming Supply Chain Management Best
Practices (John Wiley & Sons, 2006). He has
won a number of awards for his writing and
editing, including being named one of the nation’s
top columnists for two consecutive years by the
American Society of Business Publication Editors.
“Blanchard’s promotion is well-deserved,” stated
Teri Mollison, group publisher of Penton’s
Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Metals Group. “He
is highly respected by his staff, readers, and
advertisers alike for his depth of knowledge about
supply-chain-enterprise software and logistics --
two critical operational categories to
IndustryWeek.”
Blanchard’s promotion follows the resignation of
Patricia
Panchak, six-year editor-in-chief of
IndustryWeek. Panchak joined Penton 18 years
ago and IndustryWeek in 1995. She departs
IW and Penton to pursue personal interests
with several regional and national editorial
awards to her name -- most recently the
B-to-B Media Business Top Innovators Award for
editor at a large B-to-B publishing company, and
she was named as one of Min Magazine’s 21 Most
Intriguing People.
"We are
extremely proud of and thankful for Pat's
innovative contributions to the IndustryWeek
brand," said Mollison. "Her creative ideas and
pioneering executions have made a big difference
for IW.
We are
sad to see Pat leave the publication but are
fortunate to have a deep bench of top-notch
editorial talent in Penton to turn to in order to
fill the void left by Pat.”
